This month’s Sprout’s Sensations is a serious
‘died and gone to heaven’ recipe. A
couple of weeks ago it was Sprout’s Daddy’s birthday so I decided to surprise
him with a cake, but not just any cake it was an ombre cake. Those of you who wander the internet on a
regular basis have probably come across the ‘ombre movement’ -from stairs to
nails, tights to furnishings and furniture – anything goes apparently. It consists of taking a base colour and
gradually lightening it several times to achieve the desired effect.
I give you the Chocolate and Caramel Ombre Cake………
It was more than good – it was like I had
died and gone to heaven. The delicious layers
of vanilla, caramel, chocolate caramel and chocolate each oozing with sweet,
sweet caramel sauce all covered with a slightly bitter layer of dark and milk
chocolate icing. Literally..... Heaven on a Plate!
There are a lot of ingredients…..
….. and it does take a bit of time to make
all four layers plus the cooling time before the final construction.
Your waist line!!
This is one of the few cakes that I have ever eaten where one slice really is enough!!
