Day 10 of Twelve Days of Christmas is a chocolate creation….
What you need –
200g good quality dark chocolate
100g good quality white chocolate
50g macadamia nuts, roughly chopped
50g sour cherries, roughly chopped
Metal/wooden skewer
Chocolate bar mould - optional
Time:
30 minutes
(Makes 9 chocolate bars and 5 chocolate
rounds – quantities easily adjusted)
Break the dark
chocolate into chunks and tip into a pyrex bowl. Melt the chocolate by heating
up a small saucepan of water and placing the bowl of chocolate on top. Do the
same with the white chocolate. Whilst the chocolates are melting, roughly chop
the nuts and cherries.
Once the
chocolates have melted, carefully spoon the dark chocolate into one of the
moulds until it is nearly full. Then add a little splodge of white chocolate. Use
the skewer to gently swirl the white chocolate into the dark chocolate. Finally,
sprinkle some nuts and cherries on top. Repeat until you have filled all your
moulds. Place in the fridge and leave to set. Remove 10 minutes before serving.
If you don’t
have a chocolate mould, it is just as easy to make chocolate rounds. Spoon dark
chocolate on to greaseproof paper and spread outwards with the back of a spoon. Repeat if needed. Add a
small dollop of white chocolate and use the skewer to swirl it into the dark
chocolate. Then sprinkle the nuts and cherries on top. Repeat until you have
used up all the chocolate. Place in the fridge and leave to set. Remove 10
minutes before serving.
The possibilities
are endless with this recipe. Try using the white chocolate as the base and adding
a swirl of dark chocolate, use different flavoured chocolates or add different
toppings like marshmallows, popping candy or candied peel.
Chocolate Slab
is great served with ice cream, with coffee at the end of a meal or just when
you feel like that chocolate hit!
